Truly a rap icon, Shawn Carter, a.k.a Jay Z, was born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. Carter broke into the rap industry in the late 80's and early 90's by releasing small underground records. In 1996, he parnered up to launched the Roc-A-Fella record lable and launched his debut solo album "Reasonable Doubt" shortly after. From their, his success skyrocketed into one of the most successful rap artists ever. His portfolio includes over 20 album releases, and numerous awards throughout his career.
